Chuck was born on November 10, 1937 in Canton Province, China where he spent his early childhood years before emigrating with his family to Seattle in 1948. He lived with his family in Queen Anne for many years before relocating to Kennydale where he graduated from Renton High School in 1956.
Answering the call to service, Chuck enlisted with the Army in 1960 and remained active in the Army National Guard, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and earning the 1961 N.C.O. Award for Outstanding Soldier, Company A, 2nd Brigade, 161st Infantry.
He married the love of his life, Sue, in 1961 and settled in Kennydale where they soon started a family, later moving to the Beacon Hill neighborhood. After owning a small grocery store and restaurant in Capitol Hill, he moved his family to Connecticut where he built and operated a successful restaurant. After a long and successful career in the restaurant business, he and Sue decided to return to the Seattle area to retire where they would be closer to their extended family and friends. Having spent many long hours working during the restaurant years, he was finally able to satisfy his travel bug and they cruised and traveled all over the world -- Europe, North Africa, the Caribbean, Australia, Asia, South America, 45 of the 50 states and many more locations.
He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Rose and brother King. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Sue, sons William (Linda), Daniel (Debra), Wyatt (Nancy) and Dwayne (Cathi), brothers Gene, Henry, and David, sister Joyce Kameya and 11 grandsons, Benjamin, Jacob, Ethan, Stephen, Brandon, Michael, Noah, Adam, Ezekiel, Elijah and Beckett.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 28 at 11:00 am at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home and Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Avenue North, Seattle. A reception will follow at Top Gun Seafood Restaurant, 12450 SE 38th St, Bellevue.
