
Consolacion Cielo Lanuza, affectionately known as Conching, Ate’ Conching, or Connie, was born on March 7, 1933, in Bolinao, Pangasinan, Philippines. She was the third of nine children born to the late Gonzalo Cielo and Beatrice Caampued, both from Bolinao, Pangasinan, Philippines.
In 1965, with the support of a Canadian friend, Consolacion immigrated to Canada. Two years later, in June 1967, she met the late Alfonso Lanuza, a resident of Seattle, Washington. The got married in Vancouver, British Columbia, before settling in Seattle, where Consolacion pursued her passion for hairdressing. She operated a salon out of her home duplex, building a loyal clientele and a reputation for excellence.
With determination and skill, she earned her cosmetology license and opened a beauty parlor in Seattle’s University District. She continued her work well into retirement, always dedicated to her craft and her community.
Consolacion was a hardworking and independent woman. Her perseverance and entrepreneurial spirit allowed her to achieve financial success, and she was admired by many relatives for her accomplishments.
Though she chose to live independently in her later years, Consolacion’s legacy of resilience, generosity, and grace lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A funeral service for Consolacion will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Evergreen Washelli Funeral, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St, Shoreline, WA 98155.
