David Kent Zeigen married Linda Carol Zeigen in 1970 in Seattle. They are survived by two children; Joshua born in 1974 and Kailin in 1981. Dave received his Master's of social work from UW. Though Dave was diagnosed with MS in 1978, he remained active professionally serving as executive director of Seattle Mental Health until 1988 and at Counterpoint Mental Health until 1993 when the MS forced him into early retirement. In 1986, Linda was tragically killed by a drunk driver while holding Dave's hand as they walked to their car. Dave would agree that his greatest accomplishment was raising and being totally available to his kids. As long as they were happy, he was always smiling. He loved to take his daughter out to the movies and to Pike Place Market. Dave actively volunteered for the local chapter of the MS Society. He and his daughter, Kailin, spoke on a number of panels for those affected by MS. Dave was an avid reader who loved to listen to the Rolling Stones, specifically "You Can't Always Get What You Want". Dave was a talker and made people all around him smile. He was never afraid, sad, angry... he only saw things from the bright side of life. Dave passed away suddenly but very peacefully on August 26th, 2012. .
