Dennis Milton Montgomery was born May 30, 1945 in Bend Oregon. He passed away on October 17, 2023 in Bellevue, WA at the age of 78. He moved to Vancouver Washington when still a small child and spent his formative years making wonderful friends and playing football for Fort Vancouver High School. His family moved to the Seattle area in 1963 where he graduated from Ingraham High School and where he met his future wife, Lorrie Hupp. He returned to Vancouver to attend Clark College, but soon returned to Seattle where he married and started his career in finance and banking. He worked for Westinghouse Credit, Select Credit and Ballard Bank. He and his family moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon where he was a VP of Bank of Lake Oswego for 12 years. Moving back to Seattle, he finished his career with ORIX Financial Services, retiring in 2010.
As a teenager growing up in Vancouver, WA, Dennis knew everyone by the car they drove. So, it came naturally to him to become a “car guy.” His love of Corvettes started early and remained forever. He owned over 15 Corvettes in his life, having one from almost every generation and sometimes having three at a time. He joined the Corvette Marque Club of Seattle in 1999 in which he was a very active member and served as their President three different times. In 2015 he was a founding member of Eastside Corvette Club, for which he has been the Treasurer the past eight years. He was known for his kind heart, his sweet smile and wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Lorrie Montgomery, his daughters Jacqui Hammond (Ken) of Redmond, WA, Gretchen Montgomery of Bozeman, MT; sister Gretchen Armstrong (Cliff) of Redmond WA; grandchildren, Danielle Hammond, Jude Hammond, Anna Hammond, and Parker Hammond; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Mark Montgomery.
Private interment will be in Evergreen Washelli Cemetery in Seattle.
