
of 5 children. Years later the family settled in Phoenix AZ where he graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1944. After graduation he joined the Merchant Marines in 1945 and was promoted to Third Mate. After serving time, he met and married his wife of over 58 years, Winifred L Slocum of Seattle. Don worked and retired from West Coast Paper Company in 1988 after a career spanning well over 30 years. He was a longstanding member in organizations such as the Seattle Executives, The Elks Lodge, The George Washington Masonic Lodge #251, The Scottish Rite ? Seattle; he was also a Shriner with the Nile Temple and a member of The Loyal Order Of The Moose, where he became Governor of the Seattle Lodge in 1967. He was also a member of the Nile Temple Golf Club. A very avid golfer and overall sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events. He is survived by his wife Winifred, Children: Michael D. Carol, Donald P. Kathleen Burke, Debra A. Timothy Garrett. Grandchildren: Amanda and Andrew Burke, Ashley, Michael and Ryan Garrett all of Seattle. Preceded in death by all of his siblings as well as his eldest daughter Sandra L. Burke. Don Grandpa was a family man above all else who will be greatly missed by his family and all the great many friends and acquaintances that he has made throughout the years. At Donald?s request there will be no services held.
