

Donald Lee “Don” Edwards, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, surrounded by family in Edmonds, Washington. Born on January 22, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Lloyd Elmo Edwards and Alma Jean (Taylor) Edwards. Don lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family and friends.
At the age of 17, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy and served on active duty with honor and integrity from February 6, 1956, through December 21, 1959, upon receiving an Honorable Discharge. His time in the Navy instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and loyalty that would remain hallmarks of his character throughout his life.
Don met the love of his life, Mary Jane (Thompson) Edwards, while stationed on Whidbey Island. They were married on March 19th, 1960, in Greenwood, Seattle, WA.The couple made their home in Edmonds, WA, where they shared a wonderful life together. They were blessed with two daughters, Kimberly June and Kari Jean.
Following his military service, Don built a successful career working at Henry Bacon Building Materials and later at Keller Supply Company where he was known for his integrity and strong work ethic.
Don was a man of many passions. From a young age, he developed a love for fishing, a lifelong cherished pastime that brought him both friendly competition and meaningful connection with his family. He found great joy in woodworking, creating each project with care and precision. A loyal Raiders fan, Don cheered for his team with unwavering enthusiasm, always trying to convince others to love them as much as he did.
Above all else, Don treasured the time he spent with his family. He and Mary found joy and purpose in raising their daughters, and as the years passed, they embraced the blessings of welcoming and gathering with their growing families. From quiet, everyday moments to special occasions shared with his children and grandchildren, those times together were the memories Don held closest to his heart.
Don’s legacy lives on through his daughter Kari Hopper (Daren), eight grandchildren, Nicole, Justin, Dylan, Carissa, Kory, Chad, Natalie, and Emmalie. And his seven great-grandchildren, Jackson, Beckett, Leila, Rhiannon, Alia, Kristian, and Kiana. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Mary Jane Edwards, and daughter, Kimberly Krusenstjerna.
Those who knew Don will remember him as loyal, loving, and generous, a man who always went out of his way to care for others. His playful sense of humor brought light to every room he entered. He offered honest advice freely - even when you didn’t know you needed it, and did so with sincerity that left a lasting impact.
He was a man of faith who knew and loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Don looked forward to entering Heaven’s gates with hope and peace in his heart.
May Donald Lee Edwards’ memory bring comfort to all who knew him, and may his legacy continue to inspire kindness and strength in generations to come. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 4, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM at Maple Park Church, 17620 60th Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
