Born in Britton, South Dakota on January 5, 1931 to Norwegian parents Selma & Otto Anderson and passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on August 5, 2013. Doris was the middle of 5 children, growing up in the Kent Valley. She graduated from Kent High School in 1949. Having met Tony Maracich years before, they reacquainted and were married in 1952. Employed by Sears Catalog in customer service, she split her service to start a family, retiring in 1986.
Although Doris had many health challenges through the years, she always maintained hope she would get better and be able to do the things she loved. Her grandchildren and her friends were very special to her. Doris has had her high school friends for more than 70 years. She was a genuinely nice person and will be remembered for her inner strength, kindness, high value for honesty and belief in her Lutheran faith.
Predeceased by husband Tony of 58 years, son Jack and daughter Janet.
Survived by daughter Linda; son Dan; grandchildren Sam, Anna and Riley. Also survived by sisters Marion Reed and Betty Thoemke(Don), nieces & nephews. Doris had a life-long special sister relationship with Patty Logan and Angie Picardo.
Thank you to Highline Hospice who worked hard to help keep Doris comfortable in her last days at home. Thank you to all the friends who visited, offered their love and were able to say their goodbyes. And gratitude beyond words to Angela Murphy for her loving caregiving over the past 4 years.
