
Dorothy Itha Hubbard, born in Seattle, Washington (Ballard), on November 22 1917 to Florence Moench and James Harrison Deming passed on November 14, 2012. She was the oldest of three children Dorothy, Donald Allen Deming (deceased), and James Roy Deming. She grew up and lived in Edmonds, Washington, until 1997's when she moved to Seattle's Maple Leaf neighborhood. She married Dennis Ashton Hubbard (deceased) on May 3, 1943, in Alderwood Manor, Washington. Dorothy was a retired teacher. Her career in teaching began in Bremerton, WA in the 1940's but took time out to have her daughters Nancy Itha Howes of Portland, Oregon and Mary M. Ashton of Seattle. When her oldest daughter entered school she went back to teaching and taught elementary school at St. Alphonsus in Ballard, St. Luke in Shoreline and retired from teaching for the diocese in the 1970's. After retirement she worked for a number of years for the Edmonds School District in their Media Distribution Center. She loved square dancing and bowling and did both up until she broke her hips in the late 90's. She also enjoyed weaving and spinning and was a member of the Seaview Weaver's Guild. She especially enjoyed demonstrating spinning at the Monroe Fair, particularly when her young grandson would accompany her and spin with her.
She is survived by her younger brother, by her daughters, Grandson Andrew Benjamin, his wife Diana, and sons Josiah Benjamin, and Jordan LeShon, of Vancouver, Washington.
