
Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend passed away after living a long and productive life on December 3, 2007 at age 94. He was born in Portland, Ore. on September 7, 1913. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mathel, siblings Eugene, Garnet, Eldon and Cleo and great-granddaughter, Tiffany.
Bert was a proud member of the Civilian Conservation Corp CCC's in the mid 1930's, working at Saltwater and Ginko State Parks, and Fort Nisqually in Tacoma. He married Mathel Payer on April 10, 1937 in Seattle and they celebrated 51 years together before her death in 1988. Bert was a skilled sheet metal craftsman for over 50 years in Unions #99 and #66. He was a lifetime member of Soumgate Masonic Lodge serving as worshipful master in 1955. He was also a member of Ballard Elks Lodge # 827. Bert enjoyed puttering at his Ballard home, in his van and at his lakeside cabin near Shelton, Wa. Traveling throughout the U.S. visiting family and friends gave him great pleasure.
He will be remembered by daughter, Linda J. Cranfill, son Steve Linda Cranfill, Grandchildren Robin Black, Karen Keith Bailey, Glenn Kathy Dickson, Wendy Cranfill, Lisa Cranfill, 7 Great-grandchildren and special friend and companion, Lora Lee Berryman.
