Elizabeth was born in New York City to Linda and John O'Shaughnessy who emigrated from Ireland. They instilled a strong sense of family and faith. Elizabeth was brought up in the Depression in Chelsea (Manhattan). As a young girl she shopped for neighbors who could not get to the store and delivered their groceries.
As an adult and mother she cooked not only for her children but also for friends and neighbors. Our mother took us to the beach every summer and taught her children how to swim in the Atlantic Ocean. She enjoyed the company of her children and was happiest when we were having a good time.
Our mother moved to Seattle in 1990 to be with her daughters Linda, Catherine, Helen, and Margaret. She went to work as a Lunch Lady at Northgate Elementary and took great pride in serving lunch to children. Taking care of Children was my mother's greatest love.
She loved living in Seattle and developed loving friendships here. She was a kind and caring person who often put others needs in front of her own. She also made people smile with her wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed Bingo and writing cards daily to her friends and family.
My mother had great determination and learned how to walk with a walker after an amputation in 2007. She was a fighter and would not let illness stop her from living a full and happy life.
We were blessed to have a mother who taught us how to be kind and loving to others.
Our mother was also our friend. We will miss her greatly but know she will be welcomed with open arms in Heaven.
Elizabeth is survived by her children Linda, Joseph, Catherine, Mary Jane, Helen, Christopher and Margaret Mary, her sister Mary Cervello, her grandchildren Serina, Elizabeth, Christina, Melanie, Thomas, Tara, and her great grandchildren Derek, Peyton, Seraya, and Emma. She was also blessed with an extended family of friends who loved her dearly.
We love you Lizzy!!!!!!
