Emiliano Roque Rillo passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at the age of 87 in the company of his loving wife Edna and daughters Margareth and Janet.
Emil was a very good man, devoted husband, extraordinary father and doting grandfather. He was born on September 11, 1935, in Sta. Mesa, Manila, Philippines. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at the University of the East in Manila. He was a math wizard and champion, a superb table tennis player and an avid fan of wrestling. He retired from working at IBM Philippines before relocating to the U.S.
In 1963, Emil married Edna de Guzman Suasi and had five children: Michael, Margareth, Patrick, Vivian and Janet. He was the best father and the most incredible role model a child could ask for. He immensely enjoyed grocery shopping and cooking for his children, and made sure he provided them with everything that they needed. He also left many memorable moments with his grandchildren, from chasing them around the park, taking them to the local McDonalds and to watching them at school games and concerts. His affection and thoughtfulness to his wife and family is beyond measure.
Emil’s Catholic faith was an essential part of his life. He and Edna have been dedicated and active members of the Roman Catholic Church. He was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and faithfully served in Santuario del Sto. Cristo in the Philippines. He loves spending time with the Lord by visiting the Blessed Sacrament and praying the Holy Rosary every single day. He was a parishioner of St. Matthew Parish in Seattle, WA. Emil will also be dearly missed by his relatives and friends who can all attest to his gentleness, kindness, compassion, generosity and charitable spirit.
In addition to his wife Edna and his children, he is survived by his grandchildren: Dominique, Gabrielle, Raphael, Louis Aaron, Janica, Angelica, Paolo, great granddaughter Leilana, his son-in-law Carlo and his daughters-in-law: Debbie and Marivic, his sister Marilou Rillo Razon and his brother Eduardo Rillo. Emil was predeceased by his father, Severino and mother Eulalia; brothers Alberto Sr. and Pablo, and sister Natividad.
