Evelyn Bernice Elliott

Evelyn Bernice Elliott, age 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26th in Puyallup, Washington. She was born on July 19, 1920 in Anoka, Minnesota to Herman Edwin Knibbe and Allie Mae Zimmerman. Evelyn graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma in 1938. She also attended Pacific Lutheran University (Pacific Lutheran College) graduating with a teaching degree in 1941. Evelyn married her sweetheart on Valentine’s Day 1944, Chalmers Flanders Elliott. Together they had one daughter and three sons. Chalmers and Evelyn enjoyed traveling together as well as spending time with family and friends. They were members of the Wally Byam Airstream Club and the family spent many summers traveling across the United States. Evelyn will be remembered for her love of the Lord, teaching, traveling, and for her quick wit.

Left to honor Evelyn and remember her love are Evelyn’s three children, Challis (Gordon) Brett, Mark (Bette) Elliott, Evan (Donna) Elliott, and her daughter in-law Rosie Elliott as well as 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Mabel (Ed) Michael, and her son Hollis Elliott. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Des Moines Gospel Chapel.
