Dear Fred's family and loved ones.  I surly don't have to tell you what an amazing human he was.  We will miss his smiles and waves as we drive by his place.  Him tending his goats from his tractor visiting all of our fields to keep the grasses down.  Our mutual love for chickens and discussions on breeds and care.  I will be forever grateful for him teaching me the proper way to cook collards.  I hope you know how much he was loved on  our little road.  We will miss him.

We will always miss Fred's big laugh and smile to match. He was so friendly and welcoming. We loved hearing his stories about his horses and goats on the farm.  Definitely one of the good guys.

Man... Uncle Fred was such a solid human being it hurts to write this...

His presence was unfailing, his charm, unshakeable, his laugh, robust, and his love was grounded in something deeper than I could quite understand throughout the years I was so blessed to know him. But regardless of my age, maturity, or the countless different hormonal dispositions weighing upon me throughout the years we continued to reunite, whenever I spent time with Fred—more than anything—I knew to hold my head high. Anywhere I went with him, we were the Kings of the city, and he kept it so on sight that between my fits of laughter, the only other thought I could possibly muster was that I ain't ever finna peel off when it's time to ride!!! I loved Uncle Fred, because with him, I always did my best to match his charisma and energy, and while I always failed, I still ended up loving every second of it.

My favorite memory of him, while definitely not the funniest memory I have, was at a very low point in my life when I called him for advice after I found out that my girlfriend was pregnant. I will never—and I mean absolutely never—forget how infallible his resolve became. While almost everyone else was eating away at me and condemning my character as a man, poking at my inability to care for my family, Fred was the one and only male figure in my life throughout that entire experience who told me that this was a test of what kind of man I wanted to be and that while he could not guarantee any kind of happy ending, he told me I needed to know that what mattered most was my decision to live up to my own commitments. On everything I am, on everything I know, that is the most real, God-given truth I have ever been so blessed to receive as advice.

Thank you so much for your beautiful spirit, Uncle Fred. I will never forget the amazing man you are. I will never forget how deeply you have graced me. You have nourished the very core of who I am. I love you so much. Rest in peace.

To Fred's friends and family,

My heartfelt condolences for your loss. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Fred was a very special person to me. Right from the moment that I met him, I could tell that he was genuine, caring and full of love. In his presence, he made me feel so welcome in a way that is hard for me to explain, yet I still feel it to this day. I am saddened that I will no longer get to hear his full-bodied laughter that seemed to fill the room with his joy, but I am very grateful that I had a chance to share some of his joy throughout the years. I will miss you Fred and when I think of you, it will always brighten my day and bring a smile. You uplifted my life, thank you Fred.
