
George Chester Cronn was born at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle on January 10, 1927 and passed away on February 19, 2008. George was the son of Clarence Cronn and Giovanina Marani Cronn. With the exception of time served in the Merchant Marines during the latter years of World War II and as a surveyor in Alaska with the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1950, George kept his roots firmly planted in Seattle. During the 1950s George was employed in the parts departments at various auto agencies in the Seattle area. In 1965 he was hired as assistant to the fleet manager at Darigold Farms on Rainier Avenue South. In 1971 he transferred to the warehouse at Darigold which he managed until his retirement in 1986. George was a proud member of Teamsters Union Local 66. George was active in the Washington Hardtop Racing Association during the 1950s and served as that organization's president in 1955. George was a member of Jack Conner's Red Ram pit crew, participating in stock car racing in many cities throughout the Northwest. George was an avid listener of music with a special fondness for jazz of the 1930s and 1940s. George was a voracious reader with a special passion for history and biographies. He enjoyed learning new information and sharing it with his family and friends. George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Hallberg Cronn; daughter, Christine Cronn; son, Curtis Cronn and daughter-in-law, Lynessa Dull Cronn; granddaughter, Alison Cronn; niece, Linda LaBrec Kleinerman; and grandniece, Shula Kleinerman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Cronn LaBrec of Seattle and Palm Desert, California. There will be no services. Memorials may be sent to the Medic One Foundation or to the Northwest Hospital Foundation.
