Harry L. Finnick, (Lee), 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep March 17th 2024. Lee was born April 7th, 1929 in Seattle to Harry and Alida Finnick. He married the love of his life Judy, also from Ballard who passed away in 2015. Although they both grew up in the Ballard area, once married, they became long-time residents of Edmonds, Wash. There, they spent 65 wonderful years growing together and strengthening their love for each other. They are survived by their 5 children, Linda, David, Patty, Larry and Karen, who blessed them with 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
As a member of the Tau Kapp Epsilon fraternity Lee graduated from the University of Washington in 1951 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Administration. Following college and his military service in the Korean War, he and Judy began building their family. He was very devoted to his family spending time volunteering and assisting with his kids’ school and extracurricular activities including music, sports, Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls, to name a few.
Dad began his career working at Gray Bar as a purchasing agent when he learned from a friend of opportunities being offered at a new college opening in the Seattle area. He was asked to interview and was hired just as the Seattle Community College Consortium was coming online. After 35 years and rising to the position of Business Manager, he retired from the consortium to start enjoying his favorite past times, playing the piano/organ, traveling and playing golf.
As well as being a loving husband and father, dad was a people person. Never had a bad word to say about anyone and everyone always enjoyed being around him. When he entered a room, he loved to talk and was always easy to talk with, and made quick friends with those he came in contact with. He will be truly missed by all those that knew him and loved him most.
