Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend Herbert Evans passed away peacefully at home among his family on Sunday, October 13th, 2002. Born in Anaconda, Montana on October 23rd, 1928 to the union of Reece and Edora Evans, ?Herb? as he was affectionately known, served in the United States Air Force after which he worked as a smelterman for the Anaconda Company, one of the largest copper mining companies in the world at that time. In September of 1954 he wed Ethel Harris and in January of 1966 he moved his family to Seattle, Washington where he worked as a postal carrier, and later as a plumber/pipefitter at the University of Washington hospital before retiring in 1995. Herb was very active as an elder at Emerald City Community Seventh Day Adventist church where he routinely gave of himself. He regularly donated his time and labor to maintenance of the church, helping many of its members, teaching Sabbath School, and visiting sick church members, as his love of God was obvious in how he lived his life. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Rae Ladd and is survived by his wife of 48 years Ethel Evans, his daughter Linda Evans, sons Larry Evans and wife Diane, and Wesley Evans all of Seattle, two sisters, Louise Robinson and Lena Maker both of Los Angeles, CA, six grandchildren, and a host of relatives in Seattle, California, Vancouver B.C. and Montana, as well as dear friends and his church family. We will miss his strength, integrity, sense of humor, and unending willingness to give to others. A memorial service will be held at Emerald City Community Seventh Day Adventist church, 801 25th Ave., Seattle, WA 98122 on Sunday, October 20th, 2002 at 2:00pm followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall. Remembrances may be made to Northwest Kidney Center c/o The Northwest Kidney Foundation PO Box 3035 Seattle, WA 98114.
?When he left us, it was as if a great tree had fallen in the forest,
and left a lonesome place against the sky?.
