Both of my children were very fond of Lorenzo in his many roles at Thornton Creek. We are so saddened to hear of his passing. May his memory be eternal.

Hello, our family has known Lorenzo since he began at Kids Time with our oldest at Wedgwood Elementary to then being at Thornton Creek with our younger daughter, Isla.  She always loved how kind and funny Lorenzo was and always talked about his amazing food.  Lorenzo was always there to share a smile and candy! The kids called him Candyman because they could usually count on him for a sweet treat as well as a fist bump.  We are truly sorry for his passing and his positive presence so missed in our Thornton Creek community.  Sending our condolences and healing during this difficult time ❤️‍🩹

We are very sorry for your loss.  We are also thankful for the support and dedication Lorenzo provided for the children. Our son Parker was in his class this last year. He was good to our son. And was a very kind person, and had lots of patience.  May the love and support of those around you provide comfort and peace.

I worked with Lorenzo on the playground at Thornton Creek. He was always generous with his care and respect for kids. I especially remember laughing with him in all kinds of PNW weather and listening to him talk about bbqing ribs. I was delighted when he became an IA. The news of Lorenzo's passing is very sad. May the memory of him bring peace to his family. I'm glad I had a chance to know him for a short time.

Whenever I went to Kids Time, he would sneak me candy, and it would make me feel very happy if I was having a hard day. And even now he would say hi to me every time we passed by in the hallway.

My 8 year old son would like to share how impressed he was with the way Mr. Lorenzo just “went with the flow” and “never got upset” despite having a “really hard job” as a Special Education instructor and support provider. My 10 year old daughter wanted to share how glad she was to have another person of color at school to look up to and share hellos and waves with in the hallway. He always “kept people in check” with his firm words of direction and he will be dearly missed. Our hearts go out to his family during this tragic time.

It was such a joy working with Lorenzo at Thornton Creek. I enjoyed his kind “good morning” as we passed each other in the hallway, the stories and recipes he’d share with fellow staffers during our shared lunch times, and the happiness that radiated from the students he worked with. I know he’s made long-lasting impact on many souls and will be greatly missed. Sending his loved ones my condolences. May he rest in peace.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work closely with Lorenzo for the last two years. His love for the students was evident and they loved him in return. He will be missed.

Lorenzo was a very important person in the lives of students and staff at Thornton Creek because they knew that he was always there for them, always present. He used his military training to stay ever vigilant on the playground, and then would notice when a student clear across the playground was having a bad day. He taught us a lot along the way, proudly sharing about his Marine service at our Veterans’ Day Assembly, reflecting at our Martin Luther King Assembly. Always doing whatever needed to be done, always grateful, always dignified, always in service. The world is a better place thanks to Lorenzo, and we at Thornton Creek will be forever grateful.
