James R. Ellingson, 87, of Seattle, died Thursday, October 2, 2025, after a long illness. Jim was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on October 14th, 1938. He graduated from Eau Claire’s Regis High School in 1956. Jim served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1959. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1963 from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. He married Marie LeDuc on September 26, 1964. He worked for the IRS and the State of Wisconsin until retiring to play as much golf as possible.
Jim is survived by his wife Marie; his children Susan (Jerry Scheller) Ellingson and their children, Alex, Elizabeth, and Madeleine; Barbara (Tom Sauter) Ellingson and their children, Joe and Kate; David (Rhonda Houghland Bowen) Ellingson and her son, Michael; siblings Mary and Bill, and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Anton, mother Margaret, and very special aunt, Kathryn Mathison. He was a treasured grandfather, an excellent dancer and ice skater, a movie buff, and a lifelong Packers fan.
A service for friends and family will be held at 11:00am on November 15 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Seattle.
