Jane Van Noy Fussell Lomont, daughter of La Joy Lewis and Walter Fussell was born June 30th, 1939 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Jane spent much of her early life in Tishomingo, Oklahoma but also had many fond memories of summers at Camp Waldemar in Hunt, Texas.
After attending college at the University of New Mexico, Jane moved to California where she married. She and her former husband, Jack, moved to the Pacific Northwest: first to Portland, Oregon and then to Spokane, Washington where she put down roots and started a family.
There, she spent many years working at the Davenport Hotel, an historic landmark that she eventually ended up managing until the grand hotel closed in the mid-1980s. During her time in Spokane she made many life-long friends, including with many business leaders and visiting celebrities of the time.
In the 1990s, Jane followed her children to King County, Washington and worked in the Seattle Public Library, one of the nation’s leading library systems, until she retired.
Jane loved to travel and could often be found on cruises in the Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, and off the coast of Alaska. Some of her favorite destinations were in the Hawaiian Islands where she visited Maui, Oahu, The Big Island, and her favorite island, Kauai.
Jane loved people, bird watching, history, architecture, and books but she was also a fighter, defeating no fewer than five rounds of cancer and a heart attack. Her last holidays were spent in the company of her beloved family before she passed peacefully on Friday, the 13th, 2023 at her residence in the seaside town of Edmonds, Washington.
Jane is survived by her two children, Kevin and Cynthia, Kevin’s wife Katie, four grandchildren Kai, Tyler, Joshua, and Alex, three grandchildren-in-law, Kristi, Angelica, and Celina, as well as four great-grandchildren: Jaycee, Luke, Tucker, and Aden.
Jane was known by all to be a wonderful and vibrant soul and, though she is missed greatly, her memory will stay with and inspire everyone who met her, forever.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Evergreen-Washelli.com for the Lomont family.
