Janet was born in Seattle, WA. September 6, 1917, and passed away in Bothell on September 20, 2010, at the age of 93. She attended Seattle schools except for her junior year when she attended Bothell High School and made some life long friends. Her father, William Whiteside was the first full time Assembly of God minister in Bothell for that year. Then the family moved back to Seattle where she graduated from Ballard High School in 1936.
Janet was raised in a loving, Christian home and learned at an early age what ministry and service to others was all about. Her father and mother had a mission on Skid Road in Seattle for many years. Her mother was the chaplain for the Seattle city and King County jails and Janet went with her mother many times as she ministered to the women prisoners.
During the year that she spent in Bothell she met Vic Shellito. They were married in 1938 and had two daughters. Their oldest daughter, Barbara(Shellito) Peterson preceded her parents in death in 1979. Janet is survived by her youngest daughter, Nancy (Shellito) Kallinen, two grandsons, Jeff (Alicia) Kallinen of Bothell, WA, and Jerry (Janice) Kallinen of Roy, WA. She also had five great grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Jacob, Kristina, and Rachel.
Janet so enjoyed the outdoors. She loved to camp up in Index or at Lake Chelan or go to the ocean. She traveled to California many times to visit family, went to Alaska, and across the country. She also traveled to Israel which she felt was a trip of a lifetime. She thrived on the simple pleasures of gardening and yard work and of course she enjoyed her family and the many summer picnics and holiday get-togethers we all enjoyed over the years.
During her final twenty two days she was so happy to have visits from her family and friends. She saw each and every greeting card that was sent during that time and it meant so much to her. The family appreciates all of your prayers and support during this time.
