Born to Herbert Anderson and Ida Zighan in Grantsville, Utah. Russ passed away at his home in Lynnwood, Washington. Surrounded by his family. Married the love of his life Elva M. Hodgson in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 11, 1941. They were married for 62 years until her her passing in October 2003.
Russ served with the U.S Navy Construcion Battalion as a Carpenters Mate 1st Class. he is a veteran of the Normandy Invasion Omaha Beach and served in the European Theater and Pacific Campaign until the end of the war. After the war, Russ worked for the Salt Lake City Fire Department. Russ served for 25 years before retiring in 1970.
Russ had a life long love of hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Strawberry Reservoir.
Russ was preceded in death by his brothers Ray, Glen, Allen, Ivan Rick, Frank and Sister Evelyn. He is survived by his sister Jacklyn Simpson and his children Roy H. Sharron Anderson Sandy, Utah, David G. Kathy Anderson Everett, Washington, Bonnie K. Giddens, Lake Stevens, Washington, Judy L. Johnson, Port Angles, Washington and Becky Allen Harrison, Atwater, California. There are 13 grandchildren and 19 grat grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice in Jay Anderson's name.
