Jean Ertel, long time Ballard resident, left us peacefully on July 29th to be reunited with her late husband Frederick (Fritz). Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to two sons, Lance (Patti) and Bruce, and preceded in death by a daughter Nancy, three grandsons, Daniel (Jessica), Jonathon (Angela), and Cory (Naomi) and four great grandchildren, Natalie, Heidi, Wyatt and Derek.
Born on December 21st, 1927 in Wapato to parents, Floyd and Laura Davis, Jean grew up in the Queen Anne area. She married Fritz in 1949 and became a Navy wife until 1962, raising the family at various naval Stations around the country.
After settling down in Ballard, Jean and her mother Laura Owen owned an Antique & Collectables business called "Treasure Hunt". That's what she loved to do, hunt for treasures at bazaars and garage sales and occasionally find what she called "a goodie". Jean was a fixture at the annual St. Dunstan's Holiday Bazaar, always with the best table to sell those goodies. She also loved gardening, movies and beating her grandsons at cards.
Mom, (Grandma Jean), we will miss you.
