John and I met each other in 1958 at Fort Ord, CA during our army basic training. We became good friends and continued our friendship when we were both transferred to Fort Carson, CO.  Our friendship continued through our service time. We visited the San Francisco Bay Area when on leave when I met his brother Clyde.  John was an usher at my wedding in Richmond, CA.  Marge and I lost track of John over the years but he was never far from our thoughts.  A couple of years ago I typed his name in Facebook.  There he was in Las Vegas.  I contacted him and he told me he relocated to Washington.  We never had a chance to reconnect but Marge and I will always have him in our thoughts.  He was a great friend and will always be missed.

Dear Uncle John. Today I vowed that I would not cry while writing an entry in your guest book...but I see that no matter how hard I am trying, my vow has been broken. Even though its difficult to see through tears, I will press onward. Whoever said that cowgirls don't cry obviously never had an Uncle that is so dearly loved and now painfully missed. Throughout my life you were many things to me...an encouraging word when I needed one, believing in me when others could not, showing me what generosity should be and teaching me what respect is supposed to be. You were also the one in my life that gave me my first cashmere sweater, my first bottle of fine fragrance and my first piece of gold jewelry that I still cherish and wear often although it is now 47 years old. I'm so thankful to have been a large part of your final years. It was truly an honor to have been helpful to you, laughing with you and sharing precious time with you. Even though you are no longer here in physical form, your memory will live forever in my heart...until we meet again. I love you, Uncle John, you left your print on this earth and it is now without one of the greatest gentlemen that ever walked the many miles to his journeys end. Forever in my heart, Mary

We dont have enought words to describe what kind of lovely person was our dear JOHN. John when we moved to Arno Ct. we were completly strangers and since the first days you showed us your kindness and made us feel like if were old friends already, with the time we adopted you and our lovely Joan as part of our family, because of the love that you gave us, you were a very special person and we feel proud to say that we had the honor of calling you our friend Thank you for all your love and details that you had for all of us we love you so much.and we will miss you forever.

I here all the stories about when we moved to Las Vegas and how we met John and Joan. Days after we arrived my father said that he would put in a lawn and John had said he had some machines in his garage. My dad went to see the machines and he said he liked them and asked how much John wanted for them. John replied that he wanted nothing. From the moment they had met us they loved us like family, that I will never forget. Joan one day was holding a dalmation stuffed animal, and she called me over, i had only jut learned how to walk and had run over to get the stuffed animal. She also in turn to my sisters birth gave her an elephant, a very pretty one. I won´t forget how much attention John and Joan diverted to us and how many times they invited us for dinner. And a few years ago, when John had been operated, my mom had driven him to the clinic and we waited, he had doctor´s orders to not drive for two days and later that day he had brought chicken, my dad was upset because John was not supposed to be driving, but right there was just another example of how appreciated he was of us. I won´t ever forget how much happiness John and Joan brought to my family. I am sorry John for not being able to visit you in Seattle before you died and went with God. Thank you for taking care of us in Las Vegas and our home, now rest along side your sister. Goodbye John Langsted.

Since the first time we met you, we were like blood family. All these memories with you were like dreams filled with joy. All this time with you was like having a banana split. My family and I still remember when you left Las Vegas, we were very sad, but knew it was neccesary. I remember through the phone you said you would come for Thanksgiving day. Even if I was really hoping for you to come, it´s better to rest in peace than to suffer, I love you.

I still find it hard to believe you are gone.  I will never forget the day you drove up with Mike to you new home in Everett.  I think from that moment on we all knew you were home.  You can now move on and be with the ones you have loved and missed so greatly over the years.  It would be selfish for us to not want that for you.  Until we meet again...

I met John when I was a teenager.  My Mom and sister both worked at the Crabapple Restaurant and knew him well. He happened to have the same birthday as my Dad did and came to the house to meet him.  After that they were very good friends.  John was my first boss when I went to work at the Crabapple in my Senior year, and I met my husband Mike there.  He would come in and see John and have dinner and also went to work there part time.
It was a pleasure being part of the family for over 40 years.  We were so glad Uncle John decided to retire here.  He would come and visit us every couple of weeks.  We will miss the door bell ringing and Uncle John standing there.  Thanks for the company, Uncle John.  You will be missed.

We were blessed with meeting John, a kind, gentle and loving man,  last summer and spent many days with him and Sunny and Mike.   Our prayers are with the his family who miss him dearly.  His spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved him.   Ginger and George

Uncle John was in my life, all of my life and in good and bad times.  Mostly good times though.  He couldn't help it, it was his nature to be there for many.  

My Mom's 70th birthday was celebrated in Las Vegas where he brought us together, by the planning, monetary expense, and pure Langsted Love for his twin Sisters.  He was a master at surprise in that event and he brought us into the ruse and hit a home run doing it.  I have much of it on video to prove it.

He was there when I needed him the most when I was 17 years old.  Details of that event aside, I called him at 1AM and needed his help, I was desperate at the time.  He was over in a flash, and helped me through that difficult time.  

I am forever greatful for his kindnesses too many to mention here.  I am certain his name is written in the book of  life, but God has the only say in that matter....if he isn't in it, nobody will be.  

I am proud to have had such a kind, gentle and most Loving of Uncles.  It was such a pleasure to have him live so close these last few years.
