Born August 6, 1933 to David K. Layser and Mary Emma Soule Layser Gorman in Berkeley, CA; raised by John Gorman and Mary Layser Gorman; died in Everett, WA September 28, 2001 after suffering an aneurysm. A graduate of Berkeley High School and San Francisco State, champion swimmer and basketball player. He served in the US Air Force as a tail gunner in the Korean War. Longtime resident of the Pacific Northwest, he leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Sydney Voorhees, two daughters Susan Layser and Felicia Layser Robertson from his first marriage to Joyce Layser Wagenheim; his brother, David; his grandchildren, Melissa Layser-Slatta and Connor Robertson; his niece, Kathy; and a bounty of friends, family, former co-workers and clients from his many years as a mental health professional. John was a voracious reader and avid sports fan; he was a connoisseur of life. He will be very missed by us all. At John?s request, no funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Heart Association or the Puget Sound Kidney Centers will be greatly appreciated. He will be interred at Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery in Seattle, WA.
