I knew John through my parents and my Uncle Mark and Aunt Lorie.  John was one of the most generous, kind, compassionate individuals in this world and he is greatly missed.  He was an incredibly strong individual and always had a positive outlook on life, something we can all appreciate and strive to adopt in our own lives.  This past year I was able to spend a little time with John as he came to assist my parents, Ron and Sherry, in adjusting to their new life.  He was such an inspiration to me and helped them tremendously.  My most heartfelt condolences to all of those who know John; he is missed.

We are all here to share the memory of a blessed man. John Michael Malone, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, peer, mentor, and a child of god. He was a saint in his own right,  and an angel in so many lives. A guiding light in darkness, a messanger of the woed, a pinnacle of strength and perseverance,  and hilarious to boot. In his presence there was no sadness to be felt, no worldly problems to great, for his smile melted away the worries and doubts in our hearts, but you all have experienced this. 
Thank you all for sharing and to those of you who could attend his ceremony.  In these gatherings we encapsulate his presence once again. Separately we carry his memory, keeping him eternal within our hearts.  Together we bring life back to him, each of us a part of the great tapestry he wove in his time.  He radiates within us, our individual reflection and accounts bring to him life once more. 
His light shown with the intensity of the sun,  his ssmile radiates in its warmth. I have felt him with me on these long summer days, warming my skin and resignation to my heart what it felt like to be near him.  
He was as glorious aalto.me as the birth and death of a day. Being near him felt like the first breath after a coma. When we where together the earth and time stood still. Life became joyful, all lingering doubts ceased in there place. 
You where of such pure intentions,  so gentle and loving. There was no second guessing you,  though I didn't always have the courage to llisten. Though now I must take your place in a way. I cannot possibly describe how respected you are, how much I admire you for being the best person that ever walked this earth. But I'm a little biased. The greatest joy I have was making you smile and laugh. 
You showed me what bravery was. Even in the face of death you mocked it in God's name. I had this notion that bravery was suppressing fear, though I am delightful to admit I am wrong. You showed me true courage is not to suppress feae, but to overcome it.  To truly give yourself to God,  aand ain't a in his work in a firm of humility, compassion and love. I admire you so for your strength. No matter what you faced you never took it out on anyone around you,  instead gently brought joy and reassurance to them. 
Whenever the nurses walked in to the hospital room they burst into smiles to see you. You made such light of the situation in retrospect, they'd even doubt you where a patient. 
Every day at the hospital you would wear your jeans and tee shirt, as if you where just paying a visit rather than treatment. As if never of surrender to the diagnosis. As if to bring ease to others as you always did. 

During your time you had such a mass effect. Only after your transcendence could I really begin to see this. Instead if tears and sorrowful mourns, people where anxiously trying to describe their gratitude,  though just like me they couldn't find the words. 
He really set a standard for how a person should be, I think we all hold him as a keystone in this matter. 
"John Malone" his name strikes a deep chord in all those who hear it. His name is so strong that it describes his amazing character.  To me it rings of strength,  wisdom, saftey, and love. 
With all the pain and suffering he endured, all he did was share compassion and hope. He saw his experience as a tool to help others,  he elated those around him and left a permanent impression of happiness within everyone who knew him. 
One of the last conversations we had was on father's day. He was sick so we just sat on tthe couch talking for hours. He would always apologize for being long winded, but I could listen to him fo forever more. There was a somber setting, as we both knew the road had been so long at this point and he was tired. Something he said really stuck with me. 
"Kiddo! If you want to know what's important in l8fe, take a look at a head stone. After your name and before your life span is all the important stuff."

He was my daddy, and my best friend. As these days go on it seems to sink in. Thank you all again for being a part of his life. I wish I could do you justice dad, but I can't write a book on here.

I miss you so much

When I think of John the words selfless, caring, kind and generous come to mind. He was an amazing man and I am grateful to have known him.

I am Ron and Sherry Boran's daughter and Mark Abate's niece.  My mom and uncle grew up with John and I have heard amazing stories from them and my grandmother of how kind he was even as a young man.  This last year my father has a major stroke and even though John was having health issues of his own he was so selfless and giving that he came to offer help.  He was such a blessing to my mom.  My father had not yet come home but John was there making adjustments to their home so that when my dad came home the house would be ready for him.  He installed shower bars, new sinks and faucets that would make my dads everyday activities easier on him.  John also tirelessly worked to construct a new porch and wheel chair ramp for them as well.  He drove with my mom back and forth to the hospital several time and sat with them in the waiting.

I am forever grateful to John for the blessing he was to my parents and my entire family.  He is missed and remembered fondly.

My family prayed daily for John through his health issues and will continue to pray for his family as they go through this time of mourning.

John was my brother Mark Abate's best friend but he was a friend to Ron and me as well.  

When John heard Ron had a stroke last year he called to offer his help in any way needed.  He said he would come to California after his chemo treatment and lend a helping hand.  That is just what he did.  He came with encouragement for me and Ron both.  He added grab bars to the shower and put in a new sink and faucet so when Ron came home from the hospital he could take care of his personal needs.  He worked on the front porch so that a ramp could be added so we could bring Ron home.  He was a tremendous friend, with a giving heart and he will be greatly missed. 

 I know when he entered heaven and Jesus welcomed him in John heard the words from his Lord, " Well done my good and faithful servant, John, enter your rest."

We will miss John but are confident we will see him again and enjoy his humor, and friendship for all eternity.

We have a lot of precious memories of John from grade school through his adult life. He had a great sense of humor and was able to cheer everyone up. We looked forward to his visits here in the high desert. We love John like a son and will miss him tremendously. We send our love and deepest sympathies to the Malone family.

I knew John through my mom, Sandy Bower, as well as through his close friendship with my Aunt & Uncle, Mark & Lorie Abate. Some of my fondest memories are gathering at their house at Christmas and listening to them tell stories. Watching them reminisce was ALWAYS funny as they told of their crazy adventures as kids! It was also a good testament of how close they were as well as how strong their friendship remained. That was something that I always admired!

As I learned of his illness, I was inspired of hisvdight and he chose to get up each day and fight...I know personally, that this is not an easy thing to do...

I will miss John, his kind spirit and hilarious sense of humor...but most importantly, I will continue to use his inspiration in my own life....

Uncle John was somebody I looked up to for any decision of my life. From grad school to jobs to marriage, Uncle John always gave great advice. The day before my wedding, Uncle John gave me a letter he had written. It was everything you'd want to hear before making such a life changing decision. Uncle John always knew how to combine adventure and excitement with the truth about how hard life can be. I will forever miss him and the impact he had on my life. Love you Uncle John. I can't wait to see you on the other side.

John Michael you were a friend and a brother You were an Uncle to my boys... We grew up together as kids through adulthood. We experienced some of the twisting turns of life together. We talked about retiring and travelling. People say life is to short and they are right. I will miss our weekly conversations and your sense of humor. You left a big void in our lives. You will always be part of our family. Lorie and I will always remember your kind heart and huge smile which can not be replaced.
To the Malone Family you are in our prayers.

Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end, it simply means I'll miss you, until we meet again.

I had the most wonderful big brother. Always there for us, always giving and caring. We were so blessed to have him in our lives. God Bless his family how he loved them so. God Bless our numerous relatives and friends always there praying for him and  their encouraging words. He never complained just fought for all of us and lived his life helping others along his way, just a amazing person our brother. We love you Mike.

I am Mike's cousin on his mom's side. When we were young, we spent a lot of time with our Malone cousins. I have wonderful memories. Sadly, time and distance separated us all for many years. Thankfully, his sister Marcy got in touch with us, and we reconnected through email and photos. Mike shared some wonderful long emails with me that gave me insight into his life - particularly, his love for his family. How much they must miss him. It's been tough knowing what an uphill battle he faced. Someday, I hope to meet Mike's family.  They are all in my thoughts and prayers. 

I am John's cousin Karen on his mother's side. I have had all of you in my thoughts these past few weeks. I was in touch with "Mike" a few months ago through email and he told me about his family. It is obvious how much he was loved and how much he loved all of you. If any of you are ever out in Northern California, it would be so nice to meet you. I was with you in spirit during his service.

I met John when he first hired in. We shared Naval experiance. He was a great person. He will be missed.
