Born on March 28, 1952, in Seattle, Washington, John was raised by his loving parents, Margaret and Clark Teegarden. He later graduated from the University of Southern California in 1975.
John built a meaningful career in the film industry, starting as a film buyer and eventually managing the Seattle International Film Festival. He later continued his work in arts administration, leaving a lasting mark on Seattle’s cultural scene.
A devoted film enthusiast, John had a deep love for cinema and was an avid collector of movie memorabilia pieces he carefully curated over the years and enjoyed sharing with others.
He is survived by his beloved husband of 48 years, Dale, and their two sons, Josiah and Paul, who will carry forward his legacy of curiosity, creativity, and kindness.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date, with details to be announced on this site.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider a donation in John’s memory to one of the causes close to his heart: Children’s International, Environmental Defense Fund, or the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF).
