John William Wood Jr. passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025. Born in Seattle in 1943 to John William Wood Sr. and Margaret Jean Wood, John was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather.
John is survived by his loving wife, Sue; his sons, Kevin (Amy) and Kenny; his sisters, Linda Wood and Karen Hanson (Paul); and his five grandchildren: Sarah, Rachel, Danica, Aaron, and Alex.
John was a prominent figure in the Washington Midget Racing Association, where he began his racing career in 1964 and continued through 2008 with the Wood Racing team alongside his sons. His dedication to the sport was recognized through his service as President of the WMRA, his Gold Card membership, and his induction into the Golden Wheels Hall of Fame.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Washelli, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133.
