As the sun set on a warm summer’s day in Visalia, CA on July 1, 1963, this world received the gift of Jonathan Scott Hendrix. Born to Tina (Chambers) and Frederic Hendrix, he grew up alongside his sister Karen, and later, his brother Peter. On July 11, 2025, as another summer day came gently to a close in Seattle, WA, Jon left this earth far too soon, surrounded by the love that had defined his life.
Jon is survived by his cherished children, Miles, Madison, Jonathan Jr., and Alexa Hendrix; his fiancée, Brook Walker; and his siblings, Karen Powers and Peter Hendrix. He had many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whose unwavering love and support were a constant throughout his life. Despite geographical distances, Jon always went to great lengths to maintain his familial relationships. He now rests in peace with his parents, whose legacy he carried forward with quiet strength and grace.
A man of many passions, Jon was an avid sportsman whose happiest moments were spent outdoors with family and friends—boating, skiing, playing tennis, and golfing, hiking and in his younger years, water polo. Whether on a mountaintop or the golf course, he found joy not just in the activity, but in the company he shared it with. He had a quick wit, a generous heart, and an unmatched ability to make others feel seen and loved.
Professionally, Jon spent more than 35 years as a respected corporate insurance executive, leading strategic initiatives in both the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest. His career included leadership roles at Premera Blue Cross and Aetna, where he was known for his integrity, collaborative leadership, and commitment to transforming health care through innovation, customer experience, and community-focused service.
Jon’s words were as powerful as his presence. A gifted and thoughtful writer, he expressed his love through poetry and handwritten letters, capturing moments, and emotions with uncommon thoughtfulness.
Faith played a central role in Jon’s life. A devoted member of the Presbyterian church, he was deeply rooted in his beliefs, and in service to others. He proudly graduated from Mount Whitney High School (‘80), went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in English from Whitman College (‘84), and later received his MBA from Baldwin Wallace University. His commitment to mentorship and community led him to serve as Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 80 under the Chief Seattle Council, he was a supporter of the Boys & Girls Club, and he was a familiar face at Elks Lodge No. 92.
Jon lived a life full of purpose, humor, compassion, and devotion. He leaves behind a legacy not only in the lives he touched, but in the love he freely gave.
