Judy Lynn Hayes lived her life with compassion, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to caring for others. A loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, cherished sister, and lifelong nurse, Judy touched countless hearts with her kindness and strength.
For as long as anyone can remember, Judy dreamed of becoming a nurse—wanting to help people and give back to others in every way she could. She fulfilled that dream for 45 years, dedicating her career to offering healing, comfort, and hope to those in need. An unknown author once said it best:
“A nurse is one who opens the eyes of a newborn and gently closes the eyes of a dying man. It is indeed a high blessing to be the first and last to witness the beginning and end of life.” One is sure that Judy did not expect the closure of her own eyes so soon.
Even when Judy faced her own illness, her light never dimmed. Through her “Thought of the Week,” she continued to lift the spirits of those around her—sharing humor and wisdom that reflected her outlook on life. Some of her favorite musings included, “I don’t know about all of you, but I don’t have any passwords in me,” and “The main function of the little toe is to make sure all the furniture is in place.” No matter how she felt or what she was enduring, Judy found strength in laughter and purpose in encouraging others to smile.
Beyond her career, Judy found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. One of her greatest loves was spending time on the family boat with her husband, Michael Hayes (affectionately known as “Snooky”), feeling the calm of the water and the company of loved ones. She also cherished family vacations to Cannon Beach, Oregon, where she had spent many childhood summers. The ocean breeze, soft sand, and sunsets there held a special place in her heart.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Michael “Snooky” Hayes; her sons Bryan Haze (and his wife, Abigail) and Mathew Hayes; her precious granddaughter Ramona Rose; her siblings Sydney Bersante, Linda Jones, and Chuck Paulsen; and by her many beloved nieces and nephews, extended family, friends, and colleagues who were blessed to know her.
A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 12:00 noon, at Evergreen Washelli, located on Aurora Avenue North in Seattle, Washington. The family invites all who knew and loved Judy to join in sharing memories and honoring the remarkable woman who gave so much of herself to others.
