Katherine Mary Schumacher

January 8, 1964 – October 12, 2014

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, Katherine (Katie) Schumacher. Katie was born to Major John M. Schumacher and Mary (Connie) Schumacher on January 8, 1964 at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota. She was the sixth of eight children. She was raised in Longmont, Colorado and graduated from Longmont High School in 1982. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Colorado State University and a Masters in Teaching from Seattle University. For the past twenty years she lived in Mountlake Terrace, Washington and taught elementary school in the Mukilteo School District. Katie was an avid traveler and heavily involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound. She is preceded in death by her father, John Schumacher. She is survived by her mother Connie Schumacher of Longmont, CO, brothers Michael (Deborah) of Steamboat Springs, CO, Edward (Laurie) of Tucson, AZ, Patrick (Margaret) of Tacoma, WA, Steven (Robyn) of Denver, CO, David of Broomfield, CO, Alan of Seattle, WA and her sister Jill (Howard) of Houston, TX. She is survived by 14 nieces and nephews, 2 grandnieces, and 2 grandnephews. She is sorely missed by her Little Sister Brianna Lewis of Seattle, WA. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 18 at the Bleitz Funeral Home, 316 Florentia St., Seattle, WA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound.
