Roy 09/27/16 - 03/28/98
Kathryn 04/25/16 - 02/01/03
Roy and Kathryn Madsen were high school sweethearts and the best of
friends throughout their 57 years of marriage. Together they raised
three children while living at different times in Bellevue, the Bay Area, and the east coast. They had many close friends. After serving in the Army during WWII, Roy was a sales manager for Zellerbach and Weyerhaeuser paper companies until his retirement. Roy was an accomplished water color and commercial artist, a semi-pro tennis player and a good golfer. Roy's favorite memory was being selected by the Army Air Corps as a resident artist on his base. Family and community service were the center of Kathryn's life. Kathryn was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Everyone who knew Kathryn loved her. Kathryn's favorite memory was learning about and buying early American antiques with Roy.
Roy had a catastrophic illness in January 1994 that resulted in them moving to the Crista Senior Community in Shoreline, WA.
Though Roy's condition necessitated them living in different areas of the Crista community, they were together every day until Roy's death.
Thanks to the wonderful care that Crista provided to Kathryn, she lived happily at Crista until her death. Roy and Kathryn each passed away peacefully with their children at their side. Roy and Kathryn are greatly missed by their children, their children's spouses, their grandchildren, Kathryn's sister and sister-in-law, and their many friends. May they rest in peace.
