
KEITH W. McANULTY, long time resident and community leader of Alderwood Manor and direct descendent of Pilgrim Leader Miles Standish, passed away on November 25, 2001 at the age of 89. He was born in St. Libory, Nebraska May 2, 1912. Keith was the only child of Grace and John McAnulty. Shortly after his birth, his family homesteaded near Manville, Wyoming. In 1924 Keith and his parents moved to Seattle where he attended and graduated from Lincoln High School. He moved with his parents to East Alderwood Manor in 1931. He attended the University of Washington where he majored in Ceramic Engineering. He married Margaret Burgess in 1934. Magaret?s father was the first full-time minister of Alderwood Manor Community Church, where he served for many years. Keith was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, elder and past board President of the Church. He helped acquire and install the first bell in the steeple of the ?Little White Church on the Hill?. Keith retired after 38 years as Assistant County Engineer for Snohomish County. He was Past Master of Cedar Valley Grange #306; Past Master of Robert Burns Lodge F&AM; Past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star; and long time Explorer Scout Leader. He was recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, scouting?s highest award for leadership. He was known to provide transportation for many young people, who had no other means, to Church, scouting and other community activities. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Margaret in 1994. He is survived by his spouse Rhoda of Lynnwood; daughter Carolyn Hurley of Everett; son John Katherine McAnulty of Portland, OR; granddaughter Tami Bredstrand; grandsons Curtis Robb and Robert McAnulty; extended family members Cathleen Maness of Lynwood and Ronald Goodrich, William Goodrich, Louise Rendler and Carol Coultard, all of Yakima; and five great-grandchildren. His wishes were to be cremated and his ashes scattered with his wife of many years on the family homestead in Wyoming. A memorial service will be announced after the first of the year.
