Lee Allbery unexpectedly passed away on the 16th of April 2009 at Stevens Hospital. He will be remembered for his uncompromising integrity, his loving nature, his devotion to his family and friends, and his passion for Golfing, Bowling, and coaching football. Lee graduated Edmonds High School in 1961. Then studied Theatre Arts at the Pasadena Playhouse. When he was needed, he returned home to help his family with Merry Manufacturing. He joined the company in 1964, and became the President of the company in 1968, until its eventual sale in 1982. During his tenure at Merry Manufacturing, he steered the company to great success making the Merry Tiller the preeminent gardening machine across the country and around the world. The company was sold in 1982, at which time he undertook the responsibilities of the family assets until the end. During his adult life he coached football in Edmonds and Woodway, as this was one of his passions, and influenced many lives in the community with his sense of sportsmanship, and fairness. He was a founding member of the Mid-City Athletic Association, creating an opportunity for young athletes to learn the fundamentals of team sports. Lee is the last of a generation within the Edmonds community, having been preceded by his father A.V. and mother Verla, brother Virgil, sisters Shirlee and Gene. He is survived by his wife Sandra, and daughter Shana, his sons Matthew and Virgil, nieces Melinda, Sherry, Cassey and nephews Arthur and Shane. Granddaughters Violet and Evelyn and Grandson Tyler. And his most trusted and devoted friend Winston. There will be a memorial gathering at Evergreen Washelli, Hwy 99, on Monday the 27th at 1 p.m.
Lee has been taken from us for whatever purpose, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
