Lois Mayers was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her death will leave a hole greater than she could imagine as she touched and impacted so many throughout her 90 years of life.
Lois graduated from Stadium High School, and went on to attend the University of Washington. She married the love of her life, Benjamin Mayers in 1954, and they settled in Mercer Island, where they raised their four children and spent 58 wonderful years together until his death in 2012.
Anyone who met Lois loved her instantly; she was kind, hilarious, spunky, and sharp as a tack. She was known for her quick-wit and sense of humor, and as she grew older, her zest for life only increased. She was loyal and loving, maintaining many friendships for over 50 years.
She was thoughtful and genuine and adored her family. Lois, also called Nanny or Gigi by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, took great pride in attending graduations, weddings, birthdays and other milestones. Her home was covered floor-to-ceiling in photos of her loved ones.
She was also known for her elegance. Lois was beautiful, and when she entered the room she lifted up everyone around her. She loved the Seattle Seahawks, vanilla milkshakes, owls, card games, and Wheel of Fortune. She especially appreciated her devoted caregivers Jo and Hayat. She died surrounded by her children and grandchildren, whom she loved most of all.
Lois will be greatly missed. She is the wife of the late Benjamin Mayers, the mother of the late Marc Mayers, and the grandmother of the late Shauna Gamoran. She is survived by her sister and brother in law, Judy and Jack Feinberg. She is also survived by her children, Ron and AnnDee Mayers, Karen Mayers Liebman and Henry Liebman, and Beth and Bobby Cohanim, her grandchildren Joel and Angiolina Gamoran, Alex and Andrea Gamoran, Erin and Eric Haber, Jared and Cristy Mayers, Mitch and Ellie Mayers, Erica and Evan Smith, Meghan Weisfield and Travis Strawn, Jason Weisfield and Jeff Thomson, Sophie Cohanim and Emma Cohanim, and her great-grandchildren Ben, Rosie, Josh, Micah, Hailey, Nathan, Jacob, Jonah, Benji, Aiden, and Callie.
