
Born July 8, 1912 in Morton, WA; passed away October 3, 2006 in Seattle at age 94. Survived by his loving daughters, Trenna G. Drumm and her husband Dick of Sammamish, Sandra G. Walston and her husband Dick of Shoreline; grandchildren, Jonathan C. and Andrew L. Walston, Jeanne C. and Matthew S. Drumm; great-grandchildren, Nola Z., Julian R. and Wren O. Walston; sisters, Beatrice Corey, Volana Gleason and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nola in 1989. Lyle was graduated from Washington
State College in 1936 with a B.S. in electrical engineering. He took a year of postgraduate coursework at the University of Washington. In 1941 he married Nola Ball, and they moved to Seattle. He was employed for 11 years at Puget Sound Power and Light during which time he worked on load analysis
for 13 counties and standards for substation grounding. In 1948 he began his 26-year career at Seattle City Light. As Supervisor of System Engineering for 13 years and Chief Electrical Engineer for 7 years, he had major
responsibility for decisions pertaining to the electrical system, protective relaying and substation development. He served on various AIEE committees
and the Power Coordination Committee of the Western States Coordination Committee, and was the City Light representative on various regional power projects. He served on the Federal Power Commission Advisory Panel that
reviewed the 1965 and 1967 Northeast power blackouts. He was awarded first prize in AIEE competition for his paper on neutral inversion. As a
consulting engineer he designed and supervised installation of the
hydroelectric power plant for Annette Island, Alaska, and also consulted with the electrical utilities of Fairbanks and Anchorage. Among his many
hobbies were RV traveling, rock collecting, arrowhead making, gardening, reading, mathematics, writing memoirs, corresponding, and Mariners baseball.
