
Isabelle Swanson, 91, a resident of Emerald Heights in Redmond, Washington died on Wednesday, November 3, 2005. She was born the daughter of Dr. Gustaf Alfred Magnusson and Ellen Johnson Magnusson at Swedish Hospital, Seattle on October 24, 1914. Isabelle attended Seattle public schools graduating from the University of Washington School of Nursing. She was a surgical nurse at Harborview Hospital and Medical Center and in later years a nurse in a physician?s office. Although she did not practice nursing for several years, she was passionate about her love and interest in nursing and medicine.
On January 11, 1942, she married Roland H. Swanson at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Seattle celebrating 63 of life together. Their lifelong relationship began as children baptized and confirmed at Gethsemane. As a spouse of a pastor, Isabelle and Roland resided in Bakersfield, California; Yakima, Washington; Mount Vernon, Washington; Portland, Oregon and the last twelve years as a resident of Emerald Heights in Redmond, Washington.
Isabelle was proud of her career in nursing, her church relationships throughout the years, and her extended family. She is survived by her spouse, the Rev. Roland of Redmond; sons and spouses, the Rev. Paul and Mary Swanson of Portland, Oregon; Dr. Mark and Wendy Swanson of Redmond, Washington; Peter and Jean Swanson of Mount Vernon, Washington; and Dr. Thomas and Debbie Swanson of Greenwood Village, Colorado. In addition, she rejoiced and had great admiration and love for her 16 grandchildren; Kristen and Matt Paschall, Karlynn Swanson; Jonathan and Jill Swanson; Nathan and Kiri Swanson; Erika Swanson; Laef Swanson; Kaari Swanson, Carl Swanson; Colin Swanson; Kirk Swanson; Marit Swanson; Torey and Lisa Swanson; Erik and Carrie Swanson; Kurt Swanson; Adam Swanson and Tyler Swanson; and four great gandchildren: Ryan and Luke Paschall and Andrew and Avery Swanson. She loved and gave special attention to each of her son?s families including grandchildren and great grandchildren!
Each day with family was for her a delight! She was gracious in life as she was in her death! She touched the lives of many with her grace, caring and genuine smile.
A Memorial Service will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 911 Stewart Street, Seattle on Saturday at 2:00PM. Interment was held at Washelli Pacific Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be given to Gethsemane Lutheran Church or Columbia Lutheran Home of Seattle.
