Mable M Pittman of Lynnwood, Washington passed away peacefully at home on 11/18/2020 at the age of 92. She was born to Andrew and Lillian Barclay, on 01/14/1928 in Seattle, WA. She grew up in Seattle’s Ravenna neighborhood and in Santa Barbara, CA during World War II. After the War her family returned to Seattle and she worked for Bell Telephone to help support her family.
She met the love of her life, Air Force pilot William A. Pittman, in April 1947 at a skating rink in Renton. They married in May 1947 in Seattle. Together they travelled the U.S. and the world with children William, born in Seattle (1947), Linda, born in Tokyo, Japan (1949), Robert (Butch), born in Georgia (1953), and Dale, born in London, England (1957). Sadly Butch died in England at age 5 in 1958 as a result of injuries suffered in an auto accident. Broken hearted, the family left England for Paine Field AFB, WA. They bought their first and only house in Lynnwood, WA in 1958. Following brief stints at Lowry AFB in Colorado in 1959 and McChord AFB in Washington from 1960-1961, the Air Force wanted to transfer the family to Turkey. They declined and after 21 years in the Air Force her husband retired and the family returned to their home in Lynnwood.
She worked at the Aurora Village Frederick&Nelson until the store closed and she retired. After retirement she travelled with her husband and was active at the Lynnwood and Edmonds senior centers. Her husband died in October 2015 at the age of 94 after 68 years of marriage.
She was a loving, devoted, and giving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great grandmother, teacher and protector for her children, caretaker and cookie giver to her grandchildren, champion (and candy/cookie giver) to her great grandchildren and goody-basket giver to her friends at the Lynnwood and Edmonds senior centers. She was loved and will be missed greatly but will live in our hearts forever.
Mable is survived by Son William D. Pittman, Daughter Linda M. Pettiford and her husband James, Son Dale R. Pittman and his wife Laurie; Grandchildren Richard, David, Samuel, Becky, Benjamin, Sarah, Johanna, Christopher, Jeremy, Nathan, Micah, Zach, Crystal, Theo; Greatgrandchildren Joshua, Acacia, Eli, Jessica, Brandon, Cameron, Amanda, Sena, Maya, Katia, Aoife, Akayjai, Kaliya, Kaniya and Gemma.
