Marciano M. Tolentino, Sr. passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on October 7, 2023 surrounded by family at home in Seattle, Washington.
Marciano, Sr. was born on January 3, 1936 in San Isidro, Masantol Pampanga, Philippines to Santiago Tolentino and Maria Manansala.
Marciano Sr., was already a hard worker at the age of 7 in the streets of Pampanga, Philippines. He came from a poor family and helped support his parents and siblings by walking the streets in his bare feet and selling pandasal (Filipino bread) early in the mornings. And as he became an adult, Marciano Sr., dedicated his life to working hard and providing for his family. Marciano Sr., was also Valedictorian in his class in high school before he went on to join the Navy. There he proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and also worked a side job on the weekends for many years before retiring. He then went on to work for the U.S. Postal service for 23 years and again did double duty with another side job before finally retiring again to enjoy family and life.
Marciano, Sr. was also a devoted Catholic man. During his retirement years he became an Altar Server and a Sacristan to serve God at Christ the King Catholic Church in Seattle, Washington for about 12 years.
He helped to bring many family members from the Philippines to the U.S. to have a better life and he also helped his in-laws in any way. That was the man he was.
Marciano, Sr. enjoyed many things in life. He loved to shop, especially for discounts. He enjoyed gardening, watching a great "Action" movie, listening to Elvis Presley music, serving God, celebrating all the holidays especially Christmas and he enjoyed those "All you can eat buffets"! His biggest passions in life were his entire family, friends and good food. He was an amazing cook. While in the U.S. Navy, his "adobo, pancit and eggroll dishes" were the favorites among the Admirals he served. He had many specialty dishes and "fried rice" was one of them. His nieces and nephews bragged that he had the best fried rice ever! He always welcomed anyone into his home and would love to cook and feed everyone. Everyone knew him as a kind and generous man.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 58 years, Leticia Viray Tolentino, his 3 children: Brenda, Lynn and Marciano, Jr. (his baby); sons-in-law Eugene and Mike; his grandchildren Felicia and Timothy; his great grandchildren BenJay and Narina; brothers and sisters; numerous nieces and nephews and many more family members and friends.
