Born on August 24, 1955, in Zamboanga City, Philippines, Marilyn was the daughter of Emily and Catilino Natividad. She grew up in a close-knit family with her siblings Margaret, Enrique, Rene, Marilyn—who was cherished deeply by all who knew her.
Marilyn graduated from high school and continued her studies in Nursing, a calling that shaped the rest of her life. In 1979, she married the love of her life, Henry Bordner. That same year, they welcomed their first child, Mark. In 1980, Marilyn and Henry took a brave step together and moved their young family to Seattle, where Marilyn continued her work as a caregiver at Fircrest and Pinehurst. Their second son, Peter, was born in 1981, and their youngest, Paul, in 1987.
Marilyn’s heart for caregiving extended far beyond her profession. She went on to open an adult family home, where she poured years of compassion and dedication into the residents she cared for. Even after closing the home in the 2010s and entering semi-retirement, she continued to care for Madonna and Sue with unwavering kindness until her final days.
A devoted and energetic sports mom, Marilyn was always present for her children—cheering, supporting, and guiding them with love. Her nurturing spirit also extended to many Filipino families who moved to America; she helped countless relatives and friends settle in the U.S., offering them jobs, support, and a loving community.
In her retirement, Marilyn embraced a life rooted in faith, friendship, and service. A devout Catholic, she traveled with friends attended church faithfully, and frequently visited the Philippines to give back to the people she loved. She took joy in hosting class reunions, reconnecting with her classmates, and maintaining lifelong friendships. She also enjoyed simple pleasures—going to the casino, trying new restaurants, and sharing meals and laughter with family and friends.
Marilyn’s life was defined by generosity, devotion, and love. She gave endlessly—to her family, to her community, and to every person fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband, Henry; her children Mark, Peter, and Paul; her siblings Enrique, Rene, and many extended family members and friends both in the Philippines and in Seattle.
Marilyn will be deeply missed, but her spirit of compassion, faith, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
