

Marjorie was born on January 18,1926, in Milford, Michigan, to Nevin and Ruth (Porter) Sturman. Marjorie grew up in Michigan. After graduation from college, she began a career as an Elementary School teacher. In 1953 she married Eugene (“Nick”) Guirl, a widower with two boys, ages 4 and 9. Her son, Allen, was born in 1955. In 1961 she and her family moved to Tucson, Arizona, where she continued her career as a school teacher. She and her husband were founding members of El Camino Church in 1970, where she was active for 40 years, and for many years a member of the choir. After retirement in 1986, she and Nick enjoyed traveling, which included cruises to Alaska and overseas, and many summer trips to the Oregon coast. Their son, Allen, died from cancer in 1997. In 2008, her husband Nick suffered a severe stroke and she became his primary caregiver. In 2010, she and Nick moved to Washington State to be near their son, Tim and his wife, Deborah, and to receive caregiving help from them. She was diagnosed with dementia soon after their arrival. Her beloved husband, Nick, died in 2014. Marjorie is survived by stepsons Craig Wallin and Tim (Deborah) Guirl; grandchildren Peter and Amy(Dustin Key) Farrar; great-grandchildren Elliot and Louisa Key.
