I just saw Mark's obituary when checking on the address to his tax office.. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing and send my condolences to his family and friends. He was my tax accountant for decades and over the years I have grown very fond of his affable demeanor and the care he took in his work. Rest in peace, Mark.

I just found out about Mark's passing. He actually made me look forward to doing taxes as I would get to see him in his office and catch up. He will be missed. Such a sincere person. 

I am struck dumb with the news of Mark's passing. I honestly cannot believe it. I have known Mark and Tami since 2013 when he started doing my taxes and have stayed with him even through moving to and from Europe! He would quiz me on my dutch bank statements, talk with immense pride about his family and just basically was one of the good guys that are so very rare on this planet. 
The world is most definitely a sadder place without him. Tami, thinking of you and the kids and please dont hesitate to let me know if I can do anything to help you out. 

We knew Mark as our accountant and remember him with great appreciation and gratitude. He was our mentor and our guide.
We now imagine him filing the angels' returns and feeding them with his wisdom!

Greg and I were heartbroken when we heard Mark had passed. We have known him for  28 years. Our friendship began in a kind of an odd way. Our son Andy was in Mark’s brother Dave’s son’s kindergarten class. We soon found out that they lived across the street from us. We got to know Dave and his son (both of whom we thought were very nice people).  I’m not sure how taxes came about in our visits, but we soon met Mark and the rest was beyond blessings. From the time we met Mark, we felt welcomed and confident that he could do the best at figuring out our taxes. Year after year went by. It was kind of like growing up together. We loved hearing about his family from both he and Tami. He in turn would always ask about our kids with sincere interest and at the same time would have our taxes done before we were done with the beginning of our visit.  His mind was like a computer, lightning quick. I could never understand how he could talk and work like that without a mistake.  For most of our years with Mark, we were like a lot of people, trying to make ends meet. But somehow Mark could always find things that we would not have thought of to help us with our taxes. We would just shake our heads as we left his office recognizing his genius. Most of all, we came to love him and Tami as part of our family even though we only saw each other once a year. We will sure miss tax time without him, and no one can ever replace him, but we will always at that time remember one of the nicest people we’ve ever met.

Mark was a special person! Mark was not just a super tax accountant but also a shinny light Carol and I always looked forward to when we visited him and Tami to do our IRS filing. It was a terrible shock for me to see his smiling face and obituary in the recent Sunday Seattle Times Newspaper. We will never drive past the Northwest Tax & Accounting Group office on Roosevelt Way NE. without thinking of the passing of our  friend Mark Mannhalt. RIP Mark!

Mark was a wonderful accountant who treated each client as a friend. I cannot believe that he is no longer down the street, adding up numbers at mach speed and taking some of the sting out of tax time. 

Mark, thank you for all the good advice and good laughs.  Where ever you are, I can still see your smile and hear you laugh. Peace, my friend.

To Tami and family - We are truly saddened at hearing this news. We feel lucky to have just seen Mark before the shut down of everything - he was in his same good spirits,  joking, with a smile on his face. We always enjoyed our yearly visits with Mark, and seeing Tami as we came into the offices. Mark's caring for us; his generosity in answering all of our questions; and his love of family always came through. We loved his sense of humor, and loved getting recommendations from him,  not just about financial decisions but about places to go in Washington. His bright spirit definitely infected those who walked into his office. 
We send our support to the whole family during this difficult time.  May Mark be at peace.

Mark and Tami have always made tax time a pleasure. I always look forward to getting up to their office and catching up with the past year.  We shared many story’s about how our kids are growing up and what their doing.  
It has been my pleasure to have known Mark for the past 25 or more years.

I never had to look any further than Jacob and Josh to understand what a hero Mark was.  Only a  remarkably loving dad could have raised such fine young men, and the care Mark lavished on his children and grandchildren--and frankly on everyone who knew him--is the care all of us can share with each other, in Mark's honor.   Mark's business was tax preparation, but his life's calling was helping people when they really, really needed him, and that he did with brilliance and grace and always a kind word.  What great fortune it is to have known such a wonderful man!

I first met Mark about 12 years ago when he pulled me out of a terrible tax problem of my own doing.  He was a true expert in his field and I will miss him for that but more that I got to know about his nice family thru  the many conversations I had with Tami and Mark. We had many family members as his clients and we will all miss him.  Our prayers are with all of Marks family. May God bless and care for all of you .

Whenever Mark does our tax all we talk about was to go to casino together, but we end up not going and yet we have the same conversation every year. NEP loves talking to Mark and I myself enjoy listening to both of them. Mark we will miss you, knowing you was best thing ever, you had become part of my family for at least 25 years or more. You  are not just the tax guy, you are our friend and will always be in our heart forever, you will truly be missed. We love you from the bottom of our heart. Rest in peace.

My heart is broken. For the past 20+ years, Mark has been a true superhero in my life. He helped me get financially through a difficult divorce and came to my rescue when my employer was caught underpaying me for ten years. Although I am not fond of paying taxes, I always looked forward to seeing Mark and Tami. It felt more like a visit to catch-up with dearly loved friends, than a tax appointment. Mark cannot ever be replaced. He will live in my heart forever.
My last visit to the office was with Tami and one of his daughters. We talked about how much each of the kids - each one has Mark’s face. Mark’s presence will live on in those precious faces and in Tami’s strength, as well as in the hearts of all the many lives he touched. 
Thank you Mark. Thank you Tami. I hope you feel the love that surrounds you, now and always.

We are saddened to hear of such a great Loss.  Mark has been part of our lives for 12 years.  He has spent over and above time with us helping with our taxes , but so much more. My heart aches to think I will not see Mark again. He always had a warm smile and would stand behind his desk to offer a genuine handshake to  us every year. I found him and Tami in their tiny office on Lake City Way years ago and he saved my new homeowner/single gal anxiety with good advice and an honest, thrifty approach to my finances. Those fingers moved fast on the keyboard even as he talked...!  Smart and kind and honest...and Tami seemed to be the glue that kept him and that business organized and on track...what a team! 
Each year he would point to a table behind where we sat, showing us framed photographs of how much his kids had grown and would always share what they were doing...his love of family was steadfast and very evident. 
I can't begin to imagine how much those of you that knew and loved Mark more closely than I,  must miss him...but i hope that by knowing others care you can more greatly feel his presence during this difficult time...as I feel certain he is keeping watch over you all.

My dear cousin Mark I haven't seen you in years,... But I always thought about you and Becky and Greg and David you all are in my heart.. you're my family and you will be greatly missed... You're back in the arms of your mama and your daddy watching over us... I remember the fun times at Uncle Larry's Herring packing plant in the in the 10-day cruise that we took to the San juans when I was 10 years old it was an experience I'll never forget... Tami and Family,

Please accept Katie and I’s condolences.  We were very sad to hear late last night about Mark passing.   

Taxes in general are not fun for most people but Katie and I always enjoyed our time with Mark.  He was always comforting and personable throughout the process.  He spoke often of his family as we compared stories of our kids and life in general.  Although we only met with him once a year it was very apparent he was proud of his family and a gentle caring man.  We will never forget his smile or that laugh.  

I always enjoyed seeing the propeller paper weight I gave him on his desk.  I am not sure how much he used it but he used it when we were there which could have been just making me feel comfortable.  He was just that type of person. 

I tried to come well prepared for each tax session but always forgot something.  I would ask how did I do?  and he would always say did great, thank you and can you provide the following…  always with a smile.  

We feel blessed to have had known Mark.  May he rest in peace where all his numbers add up easily without a calculator.
