Marlyn was truly a gift of God to all those around him both at work and at play.  We knew him at play at Lake Trask and through the many stories he told...and through the loving words of
Eileen.  We are sorry we could not be in Washington for his service, but we share the joy that he is with the Lord...such peace that gives.

Dear Eileen & Family,
Such a sad time and yet a joyful and peaceful moment as we think about this wonderful man.  How he gently touched each and everyone he met.  Marlyn was the kindest man I knew and I am proud to have worked with him on many projects at Lake Trask.  
We rejoice now as we know he is glorified with The Father.  Marlyn's life on earth was an example of God's love for each of us.
We will always remember our friend.

Sorry to here about Len my heart goes out for you all. Len will always be in my heart as a friend and good boss to work with for the years that I worked with him, yes we had our moments but all in all he was always fair and understanding.I will miss him deeply,God bless you all.

The Solemsaas family loss is felt by and shared by many.  Marlyn was pleasant to be around and I enjoyed participating in church activities with him. Sorry I was out of town and unable to attend his memorial.

Sorry we missed Marlyn's memorial service today but we learned of it late.  We remember the Solemsaas family in school, sporting events and Marines. Did I mention Beacon Hill neighbors? Our prayers are with you and ask God for His Love and Grace to cover you especially at this time. Ron & Connie Corpuz
 

To the Solemsaas Family. . . although you will not specifically remember me, the obituary for your husband/father caught my eye.  I knew Rikki back in the mid to late 1960s through the Spades Service Club that did volunteer activities with disabled children and adults.  Rikki was very special to me--I recall visiting her at your home off of Columbian Way, picking her up (Kiwanians driving) for special events, helping care for her and enjoying her happy demeanor at "Kiddie Kamp" on Whidbey Island. Later,Iwas able to see her at the Residential Cerebral Palsy Center when my friend(another former Spade) and I visited a few other people there.  While I was young, I really remember the impression that your family was very loving and caring, especially about Rikki.  In fact, I often have thought about your family as my elderly mother and developmentally disabled aunt still live where I grew up (off of Orcas and 52nd-past Rainier Ave. and toward Seward Park).  So I am often coming off the freeway and onto Columbian Way to go there.
May the Lord (who I totally trust) comfort your family and I will especially pray for Rikki.  I would love to here how she is doing.

So sad to hear of his passing Eileen  If we were not on a cross-country motorhome trip, Joyce and  I both would be at the service Saturday.  I enjoyed serving as his Tresurer at Lake Trask as Marlyn  was so special.  We will never forget our friend and wish you well Eileen.  Joel Graham

Dear Eileen & Family,

Lenore and I were very sad to hear the News of Marlyn's passing. We both remember him so well, I personaly have many fond memories of Marlyn, he was never one to judge anybody, never had an unkind word to say about anybody and we all used to to have so much fun at the Lake. I used to assit Marlyn in cooking the Breakfasts at the Fishing Derby, Marlyn was so good at cooking pancakes ! The Christmas Dinners were always fun as well. Marlyn used to always kid me when I came to eat, he would always say, I was to late and the food is all gone !  That was his style, he loved to make people laugh.In all of our lives we meet many people, some stand out from the others, and Marlyn was one of the kindest people I ever met in my life and I will never forget him. He is with God now (Most likely Cooking Pancakes !) He earned his spot in Heaven and I know I will see him again someday and we can laugh again. Eileen, my heart goes out to you and your family.
