A wonderful life I shared. First a bit of history and then her legacy. Born Martha Jane Mitchell on 25 July 1928 in Camden, AR. She moved to Ruston, LA at 4, graduated from Ruston High School at 16, and from Louisiana Tech University at 19 with a degree in Business. She moved to Shreveport, LA in 1949. I met her in late January 1951 at the Barksdale AFB Officers Club. She was dating another 2nd Lieutenant. I asked her to dance, we danced very well together (as we did throughout our married life). Six weeks later she found out the other Lieutenant was engaged to a lady back home. We started dating and were married on 30 June 1951. Her legacy is headlined by three outstanding children; Barbara, Philip and Melissa Adams (Nee Mace). She raised these children in locations as far apart as the United Kingdom and the Republic of the Philippines and other exotic spots in between like Alabama, Louisiana, California, Illinois, and Washington State. This meant many new homes and different schools, a task that she completed with great imagination, aplomb, and success. Martha enjoyed helping others as a 20 plus year member of the Assistance League and as a member and President of the Bonne Meres (Children's Aid Society). I loved her and love her still. Her Husband Ted.
