Marvin died June 22, 2010 after a three year battle with bladder cancer.
He was born in Ellensburg, WA to parents Alice Marcella Griffin and John Samuel Adams. He spent his childhood years in Rosyln and Cle Elum Washington.
As a teenager he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (3 CCC's) and worked on projects in WA state. Later he trained for Body Auto Repair in Portland, OR at the Ad-Cox Trade School.
During World War II he was in the Army serving with the 889th Ord Ham Co. with the rank of Repair Auto Specialist Tech at grade 4. His unit served in Central Europe.
Marvin worked for a variety of auto dealers and Body shops during his 48 year career. In addition to his auto body work, he worked evenings and week-ends ushering at the Seattle Opera House in the Seattle Center for 23 years before retirement.
After retirement he took up the hobby of carving wood animals that he gave to family and friends.
Marvin was a 50 + year member of the Mountaineers in Seattle. He loved to ice skate, ski, and folk dance. Marvin especially enjoyed camping with family and friends and he was a world traveler. He traveled by motor home to visit many of the United States, by air to visit Hawaii (2 times) and by cruise ships enjoying 5 cruises to Europe, Brazil, Panama Canal, Caribbean, and the final one to Alaska.
Marvin was a long time member of the 11th and 13th Church's of Christ Scientist.
Marvin's sister, Minnie Adams Briggs, and brother Harry Adams preceded him in death and he is survived by his wife of 53 years Eloise Rarey Purdy Adams; daughter's Dorothy Purdy Michak (Joe) and Sheri Adams Selapack (Mike) who gave him four grandchildren. In addition he has an extended family of nieces and nephews.
