23 febrero, 1927 – 13 octubre, 2021
Obituario de Marvin Emil Strum
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home & Cemetery

Marvin Strum went home to be with the Lord at the age of 94. Born in Seattle to Emil and Laila Strum, he lived his entire life in the Seattle and Shoreline area. Marvin loved music, touring the country with a gospel quartet in the late 40’s, singing in (and sometimes directing) the church choir, playing and teaching the guitar, and performing with the Seattle Bach Choir for a number of years.

Marv graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944, and after studying radio and electronics at Broadway-Edison Technical School, Marv began working for Boeing in 1948. He would hold a succession of technical jobs there for the next 45 years including an extended period teaching, in which he excelled and would return to in later years. He met and married his wife Marie in 1957, and they had two children together. While working at Boeing, raising a family, and teaching guitar lessons on the side, he also returned to college at the University of Washington to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in 1967, being accepted into Pi Mu Epsilon, the National Honorary Mathematics Fraternity. Marv worked extensively with computers while at Boeing, contributing to a number of high security clearance projects, including Boeing’s work on the Saturn V rocket for the Apollo program.

After retiring, Marv and Marie traveled extensively, taking cruises with friends from church, traveling as far afield as Panama and Norway. Marv also returned to teaching - tutoring ESL students at North Seattle Community College, and high school students in pre-calculus.

Marv was kind-hearted and gentle, reflecting the grace and love of Jesus to everyone he met. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Marie, his children Linda and Nathan, his brother Dr. Don Strum, and sister Dr. Judy Strum, and three grandchildren.
