Mary Eliza Collins

Born on December 8, 1930 to Fred and Nellie Shipman in Barnwell County, South Carolina; Mary passed away in Seattle on December 4, 2022 at age 91.

Longtime Seattle resident, she was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church since 1954, where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Sanctuary Choir, Women’s Chorus - Soprano Harriet Tubman Circle (White Cross) - Joined Circle in 1977.

She retired after many years with the King County Department of Human and Community Services.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Collins Jr. in 2016, after 66 years of marriage. Out of this Union they had two son's David Brian Collins and Steven Craig Collins (both deceased).

She is also preceded in death by one Brother Ovenson Shipman (and his wife Ruby), two sisters, Ernestine Shipman Robinson (and her husband Chesley) and Bernice Shipman (and her husband Hilton).

She is survived by five Grandchildren, a host of Nephews and Nieces, Cousins, her Church Family (Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Seattle, WA), and many friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 from 10:00AM-5:00PM at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle.

Funeral Service to be held Tuesday, December 13; 11:00AM, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 1634 19th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122, with committal following at Evergreen Memorial Park 11111 Aurora Ave N. Seattle.
