Mary Patricia Lyons Reiser died on December 31, 2025 at age 79, after celebrating Christmas with her family. Mary was married to William Alfred Reiser for over 52 years. Mary and Bill met while working at the Seattle Times in 1966. They married in 1969 and raised their four daughters and son together. Their love was evident to everyone in how she cared tirelessly for Bill in his last years. Mary (or Mary Pat, Pat, Patty, Mom, or Grammy) lived her life devoted to her family, friends, and parish.
She was born December 17, 1946, in Seattle, Washington, to Mary Elizabeth McCoy and Louis Lyons. Mary grew up in Wallingford, attended St. Benedict’s School and Holy Angels Academy, roller skating and roaming the neighborhoods with her siblings, cousins, and friends. She was a member of St. Luke Parish for 55 years, serving on several committees for the school and church. Her many loves included exploring her Irish heritage through genealogy research, dark chocolate which she always claimed kept her eyes brown, working in her yard, astonishing others with her quick wit and dark sense of humor, listening to others with her kind heart, remembering the little things they shared with her, and sending thoughtful gifts as expressions of her love from the moments they shared.
Mary is survived by her children, Susan Volkman and husband, Paul; Sharon Hill, Charmaine Reiser, Billy Reiser and wife, Emily Walner; and Maureen Hunziker and husband, Andrew; her seven grandchildren, Sydney, Lucca, Camden, and Chelsea Volkman and Andy, Samantha, and Lucy Hill; her siblings, Jack Lyons and wife, Tina Ayer; Fran Wockner, and JoAnn Lyons, and her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband William, parents Mary and Louis Lyons, sister Kathleen, son-in-law Drew Hill, and nephew Kirk Reiser.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at Butterworth Funeral Home, Queen Anne, Seattle, WA.
