

Mary Lydia Tyson, beloved wife of the late B. L. (Bill/Bunt) Tyson for over 65 years, passed away at Wesley Homes in Des Moines, WA on April 3rd. Mary was born in Kansas on August 13, 1916, to Daniel Rich and Violet M. Stolfus and was preceded in death by her two older sisters, Yoletta Eunice Swift and Vivian M. McCanna. She is survived by her youngest sister, V. Evelyn Carlston (Stolfus), formerly of Seattle, who now resides in Westlake, OH; and nieces and nephews including Rick And Jennifer Titera of Maple Valley, WA; Sonja Swift Yates of Pasadena, CA; Patricia Swift Arnold of Colorado Springs, CO; Mary McCanna Roark of Albuquerque, NM; Jim McCanna of Placitas, NM; Calvin Titera of Mansfield, TX; and Bill Titera of Westlake, OH. Mary served with Covenant House Campus Christian Ministry at the University of Washington and at Woodland Park United Methodist Church in Seattle where she and her late husband sang in the choir. She and Bunt traveled extensively, visiting all 50 of the United States and a number of countries abroad. Mary was a talented seamstress and egg ornament decorator who completed her creations with elegant details. She was also a gourmet cook and bridge player and loved to entertain friends and family. She is lovingly remembered by her family for her constancy in supporting every member in ways that each treasures as unique and special. She and husband Bunt were known to show up, sometimes unexpectedly, to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and weddings. Together, they made family occasions memorable, and Mary's sweet spirit and warm laugh endeared her to all.
