

Matthew Lawrence Vann
May 17,1952 – August 30, 2016
Matthew was born in Etowah County, Alabama
He was known as Matthew, Matt, Mack (to siblings
and the rest of his family). He passed away at home
of lung cancer. He fought a courageous battle of
over 3 years of cancer. He was a strong man through
it all and had humor to the end.
He lived in Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida,
Seattle (Ballard), Hobart/Maple Valley, WA
Son of Matthew Fate Vann & Mary (Vann) Dearing
Survived by 4 sisters & 1 brother: Linda, Spokane, WA
Donna (Don) Missouri, Jackie (Barry), OR, Pat, OR,
Jerry (Denise), Florida.
Loving wife Margaret of almost 35 Years, Daughter
Lisa Vann, Granddaughter Lillian Vann Rice & Extended
Family, Pets, Friends.
His main career was Land Surveying from a young age
but did other jobs. He loved helping out at hay season
driving a hay truck. He loved the country. He enjoyed
walking miles on the country roads. He even helped
fix a country road to stop water from ditches to run a lot
over the road.
He loved growing big gardens of vegetables and fruit.
When he lived in Ballard, he was known with his family
to decorate a lot of their home and yard with homemade
decorations for Christmas and called it “The South Pole”,
but of course Margaret’s brother had the great “North Pole”
up the street.
