Miles Albert Standish passed quietly April 20, 2012, at the seasoned age of 91. He died among his family and loved ones. Born December 13, 1920, he was the cherished husband of Marguerite ("Margie") Jean Griffith and beloved father of Linda Lee (Standish) Baker, their only child. He was also grandpa to Jeff Baker and Lisa (Baker) Lester, as well as great-grandpa to five great-grandchildren: Maddox, Justice, and Anabella Baker and Dasia and Jaidan Lester. Miles was a World War II veteran, a professional singer, an avid golfer, gifted salesman, and faithful evangelist, passionately sharing the hope he had in Jesus with anyone who would listen. Miles was a salesman and evangelist as long as he had breath, always trying to sell pens and hats to the nurses who were caring for him at the nursing home he was in and singing hymns to and encouraging the other patients there. He suffered the effects of dementia in his last years but was still present enough to remember loved ones in good moments. He is now celebrating the "old, old story" with his Savior in heaven. We will miss you dearly, Miles, but we're so glad you're finally where you most long to be.
Private family service to be held in remembrance.
